Home is where the heart is - that's what
data
from the United States Census Bureau suggests, particularly concerning recent trends of remote work. According to the Census, a majority of Americans in 2022
chose
to work from home rather than commuting to an office. These numbers show that most Californians stayed at home
during
working hours, with only about one-quarter
chose
to return to the office. This pattern was also evident in Texas, New York, and Florida. In contrast, employees in states like North Dakota and Wyoming were more likely to resume daily commutes, with as much as seventy-five percent returning to their workplaces. The Census also highlights that the internet is the
main
medium for remote work arrangements. Only in states such as New Jersey and Connecticut was there a higher
preference
for in-person meetings. In California, more than half of the workforce
used
online platforms for professional communication, slightly more than
four
percent chose offline communication, and about one-fifth
used
hybrid methods, involving both online and offline strategies.
