I have lived in the United States for over five years now. My journey began in a small town in the state of Virginia. One of the first things I had to get comfortable with was driving. Almost everyone here travels by because the public transport system is not as developed in smaller towns. My initial was quite daunting, considering the right-hand driving rule, which is unlike the left-hand driving I was used to. As days passed, I also got accustomed to the system in grocery stores, which was quite different from the local farmers' markets back home. Working in the United States has been an eye-opening . The work culture is so dynamic and team-oriented. Another major adjustment was getting used to different kinds of , especially during the holiday seasons. People look forward to Thanksgiving here, a holiday quite unlike any we celebrate back home. During this time, volunteering at a local becomes a common activity, which has taught me a lot about community spirit. Additionally, exploring the vast nature trails and national parks over the weekends has become a cherished hobby. I remember one where we camped under the stars which was magical.
