American Vacation Habits

Please listen carefully to this recording and complete the exercise by filling in the blanks with appropriate words.

There's no place like home, particularly when it
comes
to vacations, according to the National Travel Survey data concerning US vacation preferences. In 2022, most Americans
chose
to spend their holidays within the United States. From this survey, it
seems
that the majority stayed within the country's borders during their break, as only a quarter
ventured
abroad. Similarly, Mexico and Canada saw a significant number of their citizens opting for local vacations. Meanwhile, travelers from New York and California
displayed
a penchant for exploring abroad—more than seventy-five percent. The survey also
reveals
that driving
remains
the most popular mode of transport for holidaymakers. Flights
become
the more desirable option only for longer distances across the Atlantic. In the US, over sixty percent
traveled
by car for vacations, while nearly ten percent took flights, and slightly more than a fifth
used
trains and buses equally.
